Project Vision

Searching for a job is one of the most stressful, yet critical searches in one’s life. JobiJoo is an intelligent employment related search engine for job seekers that aggregates posting from many sources including job boards, company career pages, staffing firms.
This application is also a communication gate way service that allows applicants and recruiters to connect easily and securely during job hunting process.

Challenges

1)  Create easy-to-understand data visuals for job hunters

2)  Application monitoring system /update users on any changes on applied job status

3)  In-app appointment scheduling system for interviews

4)  In-app video calls and chat page for hiring sessions

Objectives

Even though there are many job portal apps available for job seekers but, each comes with different unique features and still none of them are completely satisfy the users.
To start, I explored the most popular existing job portal apps and conducted Usability Testing, Comparative/Competitive Analyses, and developed the User Journey Map.  I also conducted a comprehensive Online Survey to discover the pain points and develop solutions.

"What is the product and who is it for?"

"What do our primary users need most?"

"Which users are the most important to the business?"

"What challenges could we face moving forward?"

"Who do we see as our biggest competitors?"

"What literature should we review to familiarize ourselves?"

To develop a concrete, executable roadmap to address the deficiency of available resources I talked to seven job seekers, observed them while using job portal applications, and asked them about their problems using these available portals.

Adam has been working in his current company for 5 years. His manager recently left and he has been feeling stagnant at his current job. Hi is looking for a change in landscape and a permanent role with a company that align with her values and also gives his opportunities to explore new avenues. Adam has used different job portal apps. he doesn't like the scheduling process. other than sending 20 text messages to figure out when they can meet, he would rather the recruiter respond with the times they are available. He needs something that doesn’t require much effort in order to get any response.

Competitive Analysis

To gain inspiration for my e-commerce website, I began by identifying 3 main competitors: Glassdoor, Monster, and Indeed.
The most important takeaway from this activity I learning how different websites organized their categories and the overall layouts they used for those websites. This was helpful information that helped solidify the stage for my second phase of research.
Findings from competitive analysis, combined with earlier research, revealed topics that needed further exploration.

Preparing the Journey

To develop a concrete, executable roadmap to address the deficiency of available resources I also talked to seven job seekers, observed them while using job portal applications, and asked them about their problems using these available portals.  This helps us in understanding ways users can interact with the product, as well as allowing us to see navigation through user goals.

Wireflow

After sketching out some p&p wireframes and thinking through the preliminary flow, I reviewed what was necessary, unnecessary , and what areas needed improvement.

I poured a lot of our time into this step to make sure I had the finishing touches on the underlying UX before moving onto the visuals.

Usability Testing

To set the research in the right direction, my next step was to craft an online survey to research the experience of our possible users, discover their needs, and unpack the insights.
There were total of 15 questions. I received a total of 157 responses. I followed up with 11 participants. The survey results showed that:

•    most job seekers that using available job portals, have a hard time tracking of their job applications.
•    Applicants find it time consuming to organize their job-hunting related schedule.
•    Almost all applicants prefer one in-app centralized platform to schedule their professional events such as interview or presentation.
•    Almost all applicants prefer one in-app centralized platform for all their online video/call interviews.
•    Users find it more convenient to use easy apply method instead of applying through the companies’ websites.
•    Most users interested to be able to have a unique profile and share videos and images to showcase their abilities and talent.

CHALLENGE 1

Eliminating the use of third party resources

Users have to use many third part resources and external platforms in order to keep track of their applications and to stay organized throughout the hiring process. With JobiJoo every time the applicant applies for a job, he/she can monitor any updates to that specific application. For example, (Applied- Reviewed- Rejected/Accepted for Interview – Second round Review, …) They also receive notifications for any progress on their application.

CHALLENGE 2

Scheduling System

scheduling an interview is time-consuming. Hiring manager and the applicant have to exchange many emails to find a right date and time for their meeting. JobiJoo offers

in-app appointment scheduling system/ an easy way for users to manage their meeting and interviews. For example, hiring managers can let the app know their availability preferences for the interview and share it with the candidate. The candidate then can easily pick the right time for the event and submit it! The app also will notify the users for their event few hours ahead of time!

CHALLENGE 3

Quick & Secure

Online interview methods are different from company to company; therefore, applicants have to figure out the new process every time they have a new interview. For example, some companies only have phone call interviews while other companies use Skype, Zoom, and so many other platforms for their online meetings. With JobiJoo users can use in-app Video calls for the online interviews. By using in-app conference the candidate does not have to take lots of times figuring out how to contact the recruiter. During the Conference call they can share videos, photos, share screens and send text messages for a flawless meeting.

CHALLENGE 4

Simple Sign up

Usually the sign up process requires a lot of input on job seekers’ part. JobiJoo gives the users the opportunity to easily import their information from their other job portals accounts (Glassdoor, indeed, Monster,...) to their JobiJoo account.
